Gender inequality around the world

This post will focus on (2) gender inequality around the world.

Despite progress made over the past few decades, notably the increase in the percentage of girls’ education and the decline in the percentage of child marriage, various challenges such as sex discrimination and underrepresented political leadership remain claimed by the United Nations.

Gender inequality is not just a moral imperative. It is also associated with several social issues. Additionally, gender inequality in many aspects such as education and employment is capable to cause considerable impacts on the economy.

📌Gender inequality in girls' education

According to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), nearly a quarter of girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are neither employed nor engaged in education or training, compared to only 1 in 10 boys.

📌Gender-based violence

According to UNICEF, an estimated 1 in 3 women globally have experienced BOTH physical or sexual violence in their lifetime, mostly at the hands of their partners. This situation occurs everywhere around the world across all economic and social groups.
